R4 DS Revolution(0815) |
R4 Ultra |
||
| Storage Capacity | No SDHC support, storage capacity capped at 2GB. Require a high-speed card to function properly. |
Supports up to 32GB of storage capacity with SDHC cards with enhanced performance even on slower cards. |
|
Compatibility of the game |
The Support for R4 card is terminated as the team has been dismissed. Since latest kernel update was released on Apr 24, 2008, games released after that is like to be problematic. |
There are many expert in R4 Ultra Team. They are on the duty to maintenance the Website and Kernel of R4 Ultra. You can play all of NDS GAME by used R4 Ultra. |
|
| Flexibility | The option is set for all game. You can’t set option for single one. |
R4 Ultra supports cheatcode and soft-reset setting on a per-game basis, avoiding possible conflicts. |
|
Cheat code |
The cheatcode mechanism of R4 was proved to be hard to use for, to the point that prevented many users to use the function properly. |
The new UI is designed to be easy to use, ensuring smooth gaming experience even for new users. |
|
Multimedia engine |
The built-in Moohshell 1.61 lacks the new decoding engine present in the newer versions that provides faster decoding and clearer video. It is also more buggy. |
With the latest Moonshell 1.71 built in the card, R4 Ultra delivers a better multimedia experience with higher decoding performance and better picture quality. |
|
Card Mould |
The less accurate manufacturing process of the R4 makes it doesn’t fit well with the SLOT-1. Sometimes it can cause freeze and other reliability problems. |
The improved manufacturing process of R4 Ultra ensures a minimal error in size and shape. The card thickness and area of gold-finger is specifically controlled with a error range of less than 0.1mm compared to an original NDS game card. |

what is the diference between R4DS and R4 Ultra?

DSTWO SDK really ready for developer???
DSTWO SDK really ready for developer???
Let the fun begin
I have just received an e-mail from Romman, sales manager of the Supercard Team, letting me know that they have finished developing the Supercard DSTWO SDK*. He also informs me that the SDK will be available on demand for developers who require it (they will also receive a free DSTWO sample!), instead of going completely public. He hopes that by opening the card to 3rd party applications, the 360 MHz CPU could be better exploited to run emulators and homebrew such as the ones found on the PSP (who said PS1 emulation?). Here is the full message below:
I am glad to tell you that the DSTWO SDK beta version is ready now. Actually, this is the first time SC team makes a SDK, so there must be a lot of bugs, so SC team do not wish to release the first version of SDK in public. The SC team wants to contact some developers directly, and send them the SDK and a free DSTWO. The developers can use the SDK to develop homebrew on the DSTWO, and can help the SC team to complete and make the SDK better, easier to use. The SC team promise they will release the SDK to the public when it is better and easier to use.
Actually, the DSTWO has a 360Mhz powerful CPU on board. The PSP CPU highest frequency is 333Mhz. So, in theory, all emulators running on PSP can be ported to the DSTWO with this SDK, which means SNES, GBA, GBC, MAME, PCE etc. all might run on the DS. At last, as you know, PSP can run PS1 games, maybe there could be a small chance to run PS1 games on your DS. Is it a dream or not, it is up to you homebrew developers! We need you, all DS owners need you, genius homebrew programmers. It is time to go beyond DS now.
——————–
Developer requirement:
1. You should have experience in making homebrew on the DS, it’s better if you already developed homebrew.
2. The developer should know how to program in C or C++ (SDK language).
3. Understanding the bugs in the SDK would help to make it better.
4. You will promise not release the SDK without the SC team agreement.
5. Please write an email to tech@supercard.sc with the subject: “It’s time to go beyond DS¡” if you are interested
Many thanks to the SC team for opening their card to third parties as promised, and giving away SCDSTWO’s to developers sounds even more generous. Some might say that they are ‘lame’ for having to rely on homebrew developers to provide optimal emulators and applications, some might be completely delighted by imagining what the community could come up with. What about you, what do you think? Is the cup half-full or half-empty?
SDK: a Software Development Kit is a set of development tools (libraries, functions, utilities…) that helps developers make the most of the hardware. Without SDK, programmers cannot fully utilize the SCDSTWO’s onboard CPU and other features specific to the card. Only a few card manufacturers generally provide a SDK for their card, but this often results in awesome developments from the community. The best example would be AKAIO for the Acekard 2i.

Industry news:Nintendo Wii ver.4.3 bad for homebrew.
Nintendo has released a new updated for the Wii - version 4.3.
This update doesn’t do anything useful except it deletes your Homebrew channel and blocks BannerBomb from installing. So if you have the Homebrew channel installed, DO NOT upgrade.
Over the last day or so, a message has gradually disseminated through North America’s Wii systems, alerting users to a new Wii Menu update (we personally received it at around 1AM EST). Wii Menu 4.3 doesn’t add any neat features to the user experience; rather, it seems focused entirely on taking features away from swarthy pirates and unlucky homebrewers.
“Because unauthorized channels or firmware may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.3 will check for and automatically remove such unauthorized files,” Nintendo says on its support site, repeating a message found in every firmware update . “In addition, there are some behind the scenes enhancements that do not affect any prominently-used features or menus but will improve system performance.”
Improved system performance is always a good thing, of course, but the text makes it sound like this is secondary to the main goal of taking another pass at everyone’s Wiis to search for unauthorized software.

DSTWO SNES emulator futher news
Here is a news from SC official forum,
From the Chinese forum official news:
I saw many members are looking forward to the SNES emulator for the DSTWO. And someone said it will be released in the middle of July. So i ask the team, and got a bad news:
It has to be delayed, cuz they are working on the SDK, but it’s unsuccessful :s
They hope SDK can be released this month, then contine to work on SNES emulator. But… i had got the Engineering version SNES emulator, there is no UI/Extensions atm, just run like a DOS :p
So it’s very hard to test, so i just tested some hot titles:
FIRE EMBLEM GENEALOGY OF HOLY-WAR
Fire Emblem Thracia 776
Final Fantasy VI
DQ IV
Chrono Trigger
Super Robot War 3
Super Robot War 4
Ogre Battle
Yuu Yuu Hakusho Final - Makai Saikyou Retsuden
Zelda
Castlevania
GoofyI found the compatibility is better than I imagined, and the speed is very fast! But there are some problems too, like the sound. the sound is not smooth in some games. But many games like Fire Emblem the sound is not smooth when at the title, but after started the game, it sounds nice.

SDTWO SNES Emulator comes to the beta test
It is unofficial news that SC team have made a final test on SNES beta version ans will soon released.
As we was said before that the SNES would be released on the mid of July but now it is getting end of July,we have to say that it is very hard job for SC team to develop this SNES emulator .In order to get no bug on this SNES emulator,we can need to wait for a few moment. But not yelling for
“SC team, come up with SNES”.We should say “Take more time on test and give us the best one .”
DSTWO ,NES emu,DSi xl ,problem
Recently, more and more DSTWO user reflect that DSTWO has a problem on NES .The problem around the DSiXL and the NesDS emulator.
Before we didn’t get any update from SC team,we would like to suggest NOT to use DS2 via NES emu on DSi xl
Here is a thread posted by clockworkengine on SC forum,
I had to exchange my DSI XL at wal-mart today. I was playing NES DS and the next thing I knew I had a screen malfunction.
I took out my SCTWO and powered down the system for awhile and when I turned it on without the cart, the screen was still damaged.
I should have taken a picture, but as soon as I determined the damage was permanent I jumped in the car and went to exchange it. The damage looked like image burn, but it wasn’t in a pattern I could recognize from any particular game. Additionally, there were lines of stuck pixels that ran all the way across the screen that appeared to be originating from the damaged screen area.
I’m not sure if the screen had a defect that suddenly became visible during my use of the card/NES emulator or if the card/emu was the direct cause. But I can tell you that both screens were perfect for the entire week I’ve owned the system and the problem only appeared today. I have used the card on my new xl that I got today and it worked fine. Since exchanging the system is easy, I intend to run some tests to try and determine what caused the screen malfunction for the greater good of the community.
For now, though, beware using NES DS with your Supercard TWO.Can anyone attest to screen malfunctions caused by the supercard two or an emulator?
If you have met any same problem or any other problem , please post your problem or directly send email to our customer service .We will try our best to get your problem resolved as soon as possible.
