And now the DS flashcard martket are moving into the age filled with grey and fuzzy atmosphere. There are mass of clones and revisions dizzling people’s eyes.Supposing you get a card and wonder where to start with, why not try to make a multifunctional kernel by yourself?

What you need

R4 Ultra flashcard and its kernel, Ak2i kernel

How

1. Unzip the two rar, first copy R4 ultra files directly to your TF. It should be like this.

2. As we know the file “_DS_MSHL.NDS” and the folder “MOONSHL” are the essential to boot Moonshell on the DS. Now here we like to run Ak kernel on the R4 ultra which is the clone of original R4. Cut and paste these files and folder mentioned above to anywhere else, but do not del them.
3. Now rename the Ak2i kernel file called “akmenu4.nds” to “”_DS_MSHL.NDS” and copy it and “__ak2″ folder to your TF.

4. Turn on the DS, you will find that the first icon is for booting R4 Ultra while the 2nd icon (used to start Moonshell) becomes the entrance of Ak2. We change the DS main theme to make it easier to understand.

So sometimes clones have their advantages, they offer more features and give you more choices. With the support fo other homebrew, they might be more powerful than the formal ones.
